Accommodation

Ravineside Lodge

Ravineside Lodge is situated on the upper escarpment next to the Entabeni Rock. The lodge comprises tranquil thatched wooden lodges on stilts with bird’s eye-views. Each lodge has 3 or 4 luxury en-suite bedrooms with an African ethnic theme.

A private open-plan lounge and bar area extends to the open sundecks. From here the guests can indulge in bird and game watching and experience the beauty of the ravine with the rippling sound of water far down in the valley.

Wildside Tented Camp

A real African Bush camp. The tents are big and include a bathroom en-suite. The tents are lifted from the ground on a wooden terrace and furnished with double or twin beds, chairs, a closet, and safari chairs on the terrace. There is electricity around the clock.

The camp is not fenced and lies at the foot of the mountain range. Staying at the Wildside camp is a real African bush experience: A large pride of lions is often spotted in the surrounding area, and it is not uncommon to find lion tracks outside the tents in the morning.

Albatros Ranger Camp

Albatros Ranger Camp is Albatros Adventure’s newest private camp in the Entabeni Game Reserve and beautifully situated in a remote savannah area with abundant wildlife. The camp was recently renovated with new, elegant tents, modern toilet and shower facilities and comfortable furniture. The camp is tastefully designed to provide modern comforts without compromising on the authentic African safari experience. All in all, a top notch camp.

In the summer of 2014, the camp expanded with 15 double tents that are spacious enough for families or friends sharing. Great emphasis was placed on keeping the landscape intact during the camp expansion.

The area surrounding the camp is closed to the public and vehicles are unable to drive through. This means that the wildlife is at closer proximity and our guests are able to experience the African bush up close.

Daily walking safaris and game drives in open vehicles are arranged by the camp.

Other than 15 well-appointed double tents, the camp also boasts a pool, bar and restaurant.  The Ranger Camp offers a genuine bush experience without compromising on comfort and modern amenities.

There is a one-hour drive to and from the start and finish lines.

Lakeside Lodge

Lakeside Lodge is situated on the banks of Entabeni Lake on the upper escarpment. The location is only a few metres away from the start and finish line of the marathon and half marathon.

All rooms are elegantly furnished and are linked with thatched walkways to the reception, restaurant, conference rooms and boma areas.

Legend Safari Resort

Located just outside the Entabeni Safari Conservancy, but with easy access to the game park as the resort borders right up to the Lower Escarpment Gate. Glass sliding doors lead onto a secluded outdoor patio where you can enjoy a good book or your morning coffee. The beautifully-designed bedrooms include a small seating area and luxurious en-suite bathroom with a spacious shower and separate bath. Wake up to the sight of impalas and zebras strolling by your window and go for leisurely runs on the lush grounds belonging to the resort.

The drive from the resort to Lakeside Lodge (start and finish of the race and route inspection, as well as the venue for the celebration dinner) is approximately 75min going through the game park. All transportation takes place in open safari jeeps, so participants at the resort will get a minor game drive going to and from Lakeside Lodge in addition to the game drives already planned in the itinerary. The golf course welcomes golfers of all levels. The most talked about feature is the additional Extreme 19th hole. Set high up on the impressive Hanglip Mountain, it is the longest par 3 in the world.

Hanglip Mountain Lodge

Hanglip Mountain Lodge is a 5 star lodge located on the lower escarpment of Entabeni Game Reserve. This alluring five-star lodge evokes the romantic Africa of yesteryear.

All luxury suites, furnished in African Baroque style, have private sun decks with breathtaking views across the wetlands and vast open plains. Enchanting gardens provide a paradise of foliage and tranquility.

What others thought

The whole trip was extremely well planned, there was always something to do, the people were awesome, and the overall experience is something that you will only ever get to experience once in a lifetime...unless you come back that is :)

2015 Big Five Marathon finisher

A belated and sincere "big five" thank you to all your team members for making the marathon trip to Entabeni Conservancy a truly memorable lifetime adventure for my daughter and me. Everyone we met was extraordinarily helpful, resourceful, and serviced our every needs. I am a non-runner since 2007 when my physician said those running days are over, but said I can walk as fast and long as I want. So it was so exciting to walk the half-marathon, to meet the many locals, participate with fellow marathoners from countries all around the earth, to be greeted by spectators, cared after by watchful Rangers and to safely walk a trail knowing/ seeing animals in their habitat.  For those who enjoy a day at the zoo, well this is the best way to experience animals. What a killer hill!  Loved it.  What a beautiful day and welcoming finish line!!!  What a party afterward!!!  Loved the safari's and trusted knowledgeable guides.  Thank you all so very much! Can't wait to do another trip.  We truly enjoyed our time and will highly recommend your group to others as the best marathon sponsors worldwide.
